Wild About Wax:
Introduction by Carol Murphy
The use of encaustics (hot, melted wax) has been around for centuries. The encaustic waxes are much different than beeswax and the use of an encaustic iron is highly recommended. This smooth base iron is specific to encaustic art and I would not advise using any other type of iron with the wax. It’s important to remember that the thinner your pieces are the better they will settle on the paper and into the wax. Tissue paper works the best; it can be stamped or printed on from the computer by fusing it to freezer paper. Remember you are working with hot wax and a hot iron so be careful and have fun experimenting with different papers and colors of wax.
